Several thousand fishermen and fisherladies descended on Washington to rally for some relief from the government regulation that are more concerned with saving the fish than saving the people that depend on fishing to make a living or even to just enjoy fishing.
Myself and 44 other business owners, commercial fishermen, recreational fishermen and concerned citizens from Port St. Joe to Destin made the 18 hour bus trip to Washington D.C. and joined thousands of others from many coastal communities all over the USA to make sure our voices were heard. We think we made an impact but only hope and time will tell. Everyone that likes to fish needs to express your concern to your congressmen.
As of April 1st we can bring home grouper and scamp along with everything else except red snapper. You will catch too may red snapper anyway, just release them carefully. Offshore fishing looks really good at this time of the month. I am forecasting an early spring and great summer for fishing, both offshore and inshore.
Inshore fishing has come on strong in March and will just get better this month. The whiting, pompano, red fish, sheepshead and specs have got over the cold and are feeding big time.
Don’t forget to file a float plan, and let somebody know when you are going to return.
