The cold weather temperatures that was supposed to arrive in December has not happened yet. The red tide is still with us in the gulf along the panhandle. It is not only still killing some of the fish but is also giving most of the people along the beaches a hard time breathing. The inshore fishing in the bay and along the beach is taking a toll from the red tide but there seems to be plenty of redfish and speckled trout in the bay and the intercostal waterway. We have all been waiting for the new year to arrive when we can bring home any fish from the deep waters in the gulf except a gag grouper and a red snapper. There are good numbers of red grouper and all of the different species of snapper that are showing up in good numbers. The scamp and other deep water grouper are getting hungry and will be looking for a good live bait. Last but not least, I hope the government will release some of the limits to the charter boats. I also would hope they will increase the recreational limits on the gag grouper and red snapper when we can start bringing them home. Be safe. Good fishing and good luck.
